You define which roles are allowed to read subscriber-only posts. In order to read posts marked for subscribers-only a person much register at your site and login.

When a post is marked as “subscriber-only” and your home page displays excerpts then the excerpt will be shown along with an optional “Subscribers-only” banner that you define. When a reader clicks on the link to go to the individual post page they must be logged in to read the post.

If a person is not logged in then they will be presented a link to login or register. If your home page doesn’t display excerpts then no post body content will be displayed for a post marked as “subscribers-only”. Instead the reader will see a link to login or register.

Hi!, just cheking your selected plugins… they’re great.-
Have you seen blogs developed with DRUPAL?, this CMS allows signup to the blog (as reader or member to read, to post, ect), and login right in the site, with out going to the default WP suscriber (not a very good looking page), i think it’s a great option to build problogs and manage your contents just for registred users. Any idea to do it whit WP???.-

    Peace!

    Rodrigo,

I have heard of Drupal. However I didn’t yet had time to play with it, and given my current schedule is unlikely I will in the next months.

The reason I like WP subscriber as opposed to a full subscriber only blog is that it allows you to have a public (open for everyone) area with some categories and some posts — look at this as a “teaser” or preview if you will — while at the same time some other categories and posts are visible to registered only users.

Combine this Wordpress plugin with a few hacks and you can have a full membership site completely powered by Wordpress. Now, how cool’s that? :-)

The WP Subscriber can be edited to match your desired look & feel. After all, you have access to the full source code ;-)

    Sincerely,
    Catalin Ionescu
